Jan Crawford is CBS News Chief Legal Correspondent and contributes regularly to the “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley,” “CBS This Morning,” and “Face The Nation,” as well as CBS Radio News and CBSNews.com.

Sempra is the parent company to Southern California Gas Company, San Diego Gas & Electric, U.S. Gas and Power, and Sempra International. Thornton has prepared analyses of the outcomes of a variety of labor practices, including selection, termination, and compensation, and how they relate to allegations of gender, race, ethnicity, religious, and age discrimination. She has extensive experience in conducting statistical analyses of the various elements of compensation to determine whether similarly situated demographic group members are similarly paid. She frequently assists organizations in responding to allegations of pay discrimination brought by the OFCCP, EEOC, and Plaintiffs, and has provided expert testimony in federal and state court regarding these allegations. In addition, she has conducted numerous compensation audits for employers seeking to proactively determine if there are potential pay disparities in base and incentive compensation, as well as to assist in settlement negotiations.
Dr. Thornton has been an adjunct professor of quantitative methods and statistics at The Florida State University. She has published in the Journal of Legal Economics and the Journal of Forensic Economics, and co-authored a chapter in the anthology Developments in Litigation Economics
